2016 – Lord Transform Me For Your Glory

During the last year there was so much that occurred in this world that has transformed the landscape of humanity. All around us transformation is occurring or projected to occur. Some of these transformations are positive and some negative. Such things as, the US historic Supreme Court ruling that legalized in that country same-sex marriage, the transgender transformational issue, the refugee crisis in Europe, the tremendous increase in terrorist instances and the prevalence of mass shootings. Then scientists are now highlighting fifteen (15) discoveries that can transform the world (see http://www.businessinsider.com/15-scientific-fields-ready-for-world-transforming-breakthroughs-2015-7 or “A Report by the MIT Committee to Evaluate the Innovation Deficit”).

The New Year emerges with the prospect of continual transformations, brand new opportunities, new beginnings, refocused resolutions and starting anew. It is a time for planning, setting goals and writing visions as God told Habakkuk in chapter 2 verses 2 & 3 of his book.

So we begin 2016 reflective of the accomplishments as well as the setbacks of 2015. Where there are setbacks we must resolve to invite the Lord to use our setbacks as stepping stones to transform our lives and situations for His glory. To begin the process each of us must be willing to surrender to God’s transforming grace by starting anew with Jesus Christ. Second Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

We must be willing to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus (see Romans 12: 2). So then, if you need a new beginning this year in any area of your life, allow Christ to make you a new creation, and the old will pass away! By faith accept His promise to transform your life. Here we are at the start of 2016; make your relationship with Jesus Christ your top priority. Put Him as number one on your agenda. Develop an intimacy with Him through daily prayer and the study of His Word. Begin each day by participating in Believing His Prophets Bible/Spirit of Prophecy reading as well as the online devotional series of Revival and Reformation taken from That I May Know Him. By doing this you will experience the joyful transformation of the newness of life!

Our Mission theme for 2016 is: “Lord Transform Me for Your Glory”. When we consider the increase in crime during 2015 within the Turks and Caicos Islands (proportionately per capita), the tragedies that have decimated families, and the despair that still plagues our economy with joblessness, we must pray that God will enable us to be transforming agents of hope. May each of our lives be so transformed by His grace and for His glory that we become transforming agents in our homes, our schools, our places of employment, our communities, our relationships with one another, wherever we go throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), the world, and with whom ever we interact. Let there be total member involvement (TMI), praying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the unity of the faith, togetherness in the transforming work of the Lord, and spreading the everlasting gospel in every corner of our beloved TCI. We can help to make 2016 the greatest year yet, individually and collectively, in our Mission and in these “beautiful by nature” Turks and Caicos Islands.

Have a Spirit-filled and Happy New Year!

Pastor Michael A. Smith, President
