“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you greater than any obstacle.” Christian D. Larson. Perhaps this is the philosophy of the 2016 Atlantic Caribbean Union Bible Boom Champion, Adrian Reader.

On Saturday, November 5th 2016, in front of Turks and Caicos Islands Mission executives, members of the Blue Hills and Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church, friends and well wishers, Adrian Reader, aware, but not deterred by his stutter, addressed the crowd that was there to celebrate  his outstanding achievement.

He said “I was surprised that I won, but I must say that it was indeed a humbling experience. I accept that God’s will was done. This victory was for all of us, to let us know that God can take our deficiency and give of His sufficiency.”  He encouraged the youth to be willing to accept the call to serve.

Saturday’s AY service was dedicated to honouring the High School teacher’s awe inspiring victory at the Union competition held in Nassau, Bahamas on October 29th 2016.

President of the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventist, Pastor Michael A. Smith addressing those in attendance said that Adrian’s victory for the mission was an indication of what was taking place within our field. “We might be small but we are mighty!” He said.  Pastor Smith expressed delight in being able to include Adrian’s victory for the mission in his yearend report. He further encourage Reader to continue rising in the pinnacle of success.

Youth Ministries Director for the Mission, Ms. Judith Robinson said of her experience in accompanying Adrian to the Bible Boom “We prayed and we prayed and we prayed.” She admitted that they were both surprised by the win but were elated when the reality of the victory set in.

As part of the celebratory service, Reader was presented with a plaque and a tablet and all the elders in attendance encircled and prayed for him.

This is the second time the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission has won the ATCU Bible Boom. Samuel Nemours won the competition in 2014.

Reader was the only entrant in the locally held completion. He automatically advanced to the Union competition. His victory in the Bahamas was no fluke either. He finished 40 points ahead of the second place finisher and 260 points ahead of the third place finisher.

The journey though is not yet over for Adrian. He will represent Atlantic Caribbean Union at the 2016 Inter America Division Bible Boom, to be held on December 10th in the Dominican Republic.
