Audience members sat at the edge of their seats as a group of enthusiastic Adventurers and Pathfinders competed at the Turks & Caicos Islands Mission Bible Boom 2016, held at the Maranatha Academy auditorium on Saturday, September 3rd.

It was a race to the buzzer and competitors were anything but hesitant to buzz in and answer confidently to the questions asked. However there could only be two winners and Antioch SDA and Bethel SDA rose to the challenge.

The competition began with the Adventurers who were quizzed from the book of Ruth. After three intense rounds, Noellisa Benjamin of the Antioch SDA Church in Grand Turk was announced the winner, but it was not an easy win. She won by only one point over Colney Joseph, Five Cays SDA and crowd favourite Tyra Germeus, Bethel, who tied for 2nd place.

Next it was the fast paced rounds of the Pathfinder competition. Only four of the ten competitors advanced to the second round where lightning speed was the strategy. Samuel Baron of Bethel SDA’s Pathfinder Club and Noel Benjamin of Antioch lead the race to the buzzer, but by the end of round 3 Baron emerged the winner, answering the most questions from the books of Joshua & Judges. Benjamin placed 2nd. Andrew Arthur from the Blue Hills SDA Eagles Pathfinder Club placed 3rd .

Due to lack of entrants, Adrian Reader of Ephesus SDA Church, the only applicant for the youth category was announced as the official TCIM representative for the Atlantic Caribbean Union Bible Boom, scheduled to be held on October 29th in Nassau Bahamas.

This is the first time Adventurers and Pathfinders have competed in a Bible Boom in the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission of Seventh-day Adventists. Youth Director for the mission, Judith Robinson said “I’m absolutely delighted at the success of the Bible Boom. Our youth are enthusiastic and are to be applauded for the knowledge they demonstrated today.”

Participants of the 2016 Bible Boom were awarded with certificates and gifts, with winners receiving medals and trophies. As part of his prize package, Pathfinder Samuel Baron won an all expenses paid trip to Pathfinder Camporee 2017, which will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in April of next year.

President of the Turks & Caicos Islands Mission, Pastor Michael A. Smith encouraged the youth to continue in Bible study and applauded the efforts of all the participants, calling them all winners in their own right.
