Secretary, Turks and Caicos Mission of Seventh-day Adventists

Pastor Steve Cornwall was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but grew up in the parish of St. Elizabeth, where he was baptized at the tender age of nine and started his ministry as lay preacher at age fifteen. Being a third generation Seventh-day Adventist, Christian education was not an option, and so he enrolled   in 1993 at West Indies College High (now Victor Dixon High). After graduating from high school he answered the call to the gospel ministry. God gave the choice: preach or perish. He chose to preach and to evangelize. To fulfil this dream he headed for Northern Caribbean University, and graduated with a Bachelors arts degree in Religion and Theology.

While at NCU, he served as an elder of the University Church, Music Director of the Colporteurs Club and President of the Ministerial Association. He was instrumental in setting up the first Ministerial Scholarship fund to assist needy theology students.

In 2002 he joined the worker force in North Jamaica Mission on a provisional basis there he served as bible worker, evangelist and intern pastor, assisting in the following districts: Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Salem and Brown’s Town

For over thirteen years , Pastor Cornwall has been an ardent evangelist preaching the word of God across Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, Cayman,Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Argentina. He has brought over 1000 souls to the kingdom, and rose up two churches.

Pastor Cornwall’s privileges and accomplishments include:

*Youth Director North East Jamaica Conference

*Sabbath School & Personal Ministries Director , North East Jamaica Conference.

*Studied Haitian Creole at Universite Adventiste d’Haiti.

*Serving as Assistant Pastor to the President (TCI)

*Being a member of the Mission Committee (TCI)

*Chaplain of the College Of Arts Science And Education ( C.A.S.E.) Adventist Fraternity.

*Teaching Basic English at Universidad Adventista De Centro America (Costa Rica)

*Teaching Spanish at Port Maria High and Preparatory.

*Chairman of the long Road and Faith Basic Schools.

*Being fluent in Spanish

*Playing the piano, clarinet, saxophone and the bass guitar.

Upon returning to Jamaica in 2009 he joined the worker force in Northeast Jamaica Conference, where  he served as, Youth , Personal Ministries and Sabbath School Director.

On August 1, 2015 he accepted a call to the Turks & Caicos Island to serve as pastor of the French speaking congregations in Providenciales. On December 6th, 2015 at the Atlantic Carribbean Union Mission Second Quinquennial session he was appointed as the Executive Secretary of Turks & Caicos Mission.

Pastor Steve Cornwall is married to the former Kissia Quitaria Thomas, a Business Studies teacher and Head of the Business and Applied Science Department at the Marjorie Basden High (formerly Pierson High) who is a native of the Turks & Caicos Islands. The union has produced one son Matthew Steve Cornwall A.K.A. Matt the energizer.

This young dynamo is admired for his unique ability in presenting the gospel not only through the spoken word but through the ministry of music.

When pastor Cornwall is not busy with ministerial obligations, he enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing musical instruments. His personal philosophy is, “My deficiency creates room for God sufficiency; what I lack God has”.
